Artwork Story & Collector Notes
“Bang Bang“ is an evocative acrylic painting that chronicles the highs and lows of the COVID-19 pandemic. With its earthy palette and structured horizontal rectangles, the artwork frames words that shaped both global headlines and personal routines. Words like DONALD, TRUMP, BORIS, JOHNSON, and RUBY, PRINCESS, stand alongside introspective thoughts and activities like BAKING, BREAD, reflecting the unique blend of chaos and stillness experienced during lockdown.
The text-based design offers a raw, unfiltered look at my internal dialogue and observations. I had just turned 60 years of age and as a citizen of Australia, I entered a new classification – I became a senior. As a senior, I started getting exclusive offers to join wine clubs, with 50% off for new members. An offer too good to refuse, so I started drinking RED, WINE.
Each rectangle becomes a chapter in the story of the pandemic, with words layered in the middle to highlight their emotional weight.
Part of the “Coronavirus Collection,” this painting is a time capsule of resilience and adaptation. The title, “Bang Bang,” is drawn from a David Bowie version of the song, adding a musical dimension to its narrative. This piece is a powerful conversation starter and a poignant reminder of a transformative time in history.
