Casual Weekly Art Class

Enjoy two hours of relaxed, creative art-making in a small and friendly studio environment.

My Casual Weekly Art Classes are designed for adults who would like to develop their artistic skills at their own pace. Whether you are a complete beginner, returning to art after many years, or already have some experience and would like guidance with a particular project, the class can be adapted to suit you.

Unlike a structured course where everyone works on the same project, these casual classes allow you to focus on the areas of art that interest you most. You might want to improve your drawing, learn more about colour mixing, experiment with watercolour, acrylic or oil painting, or bring along a work in progress that you would like help with.

Personal Guidance in a Small Class

Classes are kept deliberately small, with a maximum of four students. This gives me time to work individually with each person rather than simply demonstrating from the front of a large group.

I can help you with areas such as:

• Drawing — proportion, observation, perspective and shading
  Colour — colour mixing, values, temperature and harmony
  Watercolour — washes, layering, edges and brush control
  Acrylic painting — blending, layering, texture and colour
  Oil painting — colour mixing, brushwork, edges and traditional techniques
  Composition — creating stronger and more balanced artworks
  Individual projects — practical guidance with your own artwork

You do not need to be an experienced artist. If you are unsure where to begin, I can help you choose a simple project and work through it step by step.

A Relaxed Place to Learn

Classes are held in my purpose-built, undercover outdoor art studio in Western Sydney. I want the atmosphere to feel more like spending a couple of hours making art with other creative people than sitting in a formal classroom.

There is no pressure to keep up with anyone else and no expectation that every artwork has to become a masterpiece. Experimenting, making mistakes and discovering why something did not work are all part of learning to make art.

Learn at Your Own Pace

Because these are casual weekly classes, you can book individual sessions rather than committing to a longer course.

Come along to learn something new, continue developing an existing artwork, or simply give yourself a couple of hours each week to draw, paint and create.
